Frequently Asked Questions

My son didn’t received a personal invite to play in the league. Can he still sign up?

Yes! The league is open to all players. Our initial invites are to ensure there is a core of experience that will allow the teams to play lacrosse at the level it should be played. This helps all other players get up to speed faster.

My son has never played lacrosse before. Can he participate in the DCLL?

Yes. Players of all experience levels are welcome. New players are highly encouraged to sign up. We only ask that you make a commitment to making weekly practices and games in the spring season.

Do I have to register in my home region?

No. You may register in any of the particular regions as desired. However there may be a need to balance the teams after the player combine. Please be flexible and communicate your needs.

I live in Santa Clarita or Santa Barbara. Will there be games in my area? Practices?

Yes. We are certain there will be teams in the northern region and plan to have practices and multiple game weekends in Santa Clarita. Practices and games will be in Ventura for coastal region teams. Should that region fall short on numbers players will be consolidated into the Western Division with practices in Newbury Park.

My U.S. Lacrosse number expires before the season ends. Do I need a new one?

Yes. All U.S. Lacrosse numbers must be current throughout the entire season to play in the DCLL.

What is a U.S. Lacrosse number? How do I get a U.S. Lacrosse number?

A U.S. Lacrosse number ensures each player is covered by insurance. The DCLL’s affiliation with U.S. Lacrosse is beneficial for many reasons such as loaner equipment grants, insurance, and one standardized set of rules.

I do not own lacrosse gear. Can my son borrow gear?

We have limited quantities of loaner equipment for the U8 division which is given out on a first come, first served basis. The gear can be loaned for the duration of the spring season. Players in the third grade or older must have their own gear. Try attending one of our try lacrosse clinics where we provide loaner gear for the entire session free of charge. Information about our try lacrosse clinics can be found on this site.

When do spring practices begin?

Spring practices begin the week of January 27th which coincides with the end of the winter club season.

Can my son play up an age bracket?

Yes. Simply request to do this during registration. Please send a follow up email to stating your intentions to play you player up a bracket.
